How to cure that HANGOVER

Hello Everyone!

So we've all said 'oh I'm not gonna get that drunk tonight'... then a bottle of wine, 2 trebs and a whole array of bev you can't remember you've drank later, you're on the floor puking your guts out in the smoking area of the club, with your best mate laughing and taking videos of you. Yeah we've all been there, and it only ends up one way; with a throbbing headache the next day, regretting your life decisions, and a corker of a hangover that feels like the END. Do not panic! In this post, I'm gonna share with you my five ways to get you feeling your usual perky self again!

Step 1: Have a drink

There's nothing better than a cold pint of water when you wake up dehydrated after a night of drinking. When I'm hungover, Lucozade always seems to sort me out (forget the bottles, the cans are wayyy better!). A cup of tea is never a bad shout either hehe.

Step 2: Go to the loo for a number 2

Think this goes without saying.

Step 3: Have a shower

I always feel absolutely grim after a night out, and for some reason I end up covered in mud, especially my ankles! My hair always feels proper sticky too from everyone's drinks flying around! I always like to shower with something extra fruity to put me back in high spirits.

Even though I'm 20 years old, the kids Loreal very berry shampoo and conditioner will always be my favourite! What happened to the old packaging though?

Step 4: Eat something, EVERYTHING

Sometimes I wake up literally not being able to stomach a thing, but when I start to feel hungry, I get REALLY hungry. I LOVE to snack on doritos and dip, I know that's a strange craving ahah, but my go to meal has to be sausage and mash. It's just such a home comfort and just restores my tummy with goodness!!

Feasting on Doritos and dip at my friend Katy's house and watching one of my fave chick flicks.

Not the best of quality picture, but hey ho, I'm a Uni student! I was pigging out on sausages, mash, with cheesy broccoli, whilst watching Gilmore Girls, nom nom nom.

Step 5: Get out and get some fresh air

I know you probably just wanna lie in bed watching Netflix (I know I love a bit of Gossip Girl or Gilmore Girls when I'm hanging hehe) and it sounds like the longest thing ever and probably the last thing you'd wanna do BUT it'll make ya feel sooo much better! Even if it's just a walk to the shop to get more hangover snacks! Recently our group have been going to our local swimming pool hungover and it's literally top notch! A sauna AND a steam room completely detoxing your body. I literally come out feeling as fresh as a daisy!

Here's a cheesy photo of me; quite clearly enjoying my hangover walk to Jesmond Dene (photo creds to Katy).

Anyway, I really hope these few steps will help you return back to happiness. What are your tips for hangovers?

Lots of love,

Alex

Aus Adventure: Welcome to Travel

Hello Everyone, I hope you’re all safe and well during these very strange times. I am currently living at Spot X Surf Camp on the East Coast of Australia during the COVID 19 pandemic. It’s a weird feeling being at the other side of the world during all of this madness, but I figured I would use this time to reflect on my Australian journey. I’m sure there are so many people so eager to travel when all of this is over, so I thought I’d return to my blog and write up a cheeky post reflecting on my first couple of weeks in Melbourne pre-lockdown. I always knew I wanted to work and travel in Australia, but I just had no idea where to even start with organising it, especially seeing as I knew I was travelling on my own (scary times). I remember googling ‘tours around Australia’ and it just felt like there were so many different things that popped up that all seemed to say the same thing, leading me to feel more lost with it all. I’ve done lots of travelling before, but I alwa...

Summer Ballin'

Hey Everyone! So it's the start of July... which means it's finally the start of SUMMER!!! What better way to get the party started than with an end of Sixth Form Summer Ball eh? Yes, you guessed it, in this post I'm going to share with you what I wore to my leavers' ball... Arguably to many girls, finding the perfect prom dress is like trying to find a four-leaf clover; many girls try so hard to find it, but some end up giving up and going for that dress that 'will do' (or in this case, the clover with three leaves with one split in half to make it look like four...). Other girls however are lucky, and find it straight away. My ball dress, I feel, was my four-leaf clover. I was scrolling through the ASOS website not expecting to find anything I liked, but as soon as I saw this dress, I knew it was the one. Because my ball was at the beginning of July in the Museum Gardens in the centre of York, I wanted something that was pretty, y...

The things that change when you go to Newcastle University

Hello Everyone, As a Uni student who overthinks a LOT, there have definitely been moments where I've reflected on my time AT University, but also the time BEFORE. After a mental two years, I thought I'd write a little post for you, all about the things that I feel change when you go to Uni. The first is... fashion When you go to University, your fashion gets lazier, and you find yourself walking sluggishly to your lectures in the comfiest leggings you can find, the biggest and most baggy jumper you can get hold of, your gazelles, and no makeup. I am fully guilty of this. For some reason though, on a night out in Newcastle, it seems acceptable to go out in pretty much exactly the same thing, but with more makeup, your Calvin Klein's underneath and the addition of a cap (even though it's night time). Again, I am guilty of this, as shown below. At the end of second year, I noticed that pretty much every other person walking round Jesmond was wearing either a bom...
