Winter Wardrobe Favourites

Hey everyone!

January is almost over (which I can't quite believe...) and I figured I ought to write something a little more upbeat after my previous depressing driving post... so the chilly weather prompted me to talk about (and show you) a few winter favourites in my wardrobe at the minute (excuse the posey piccies)...

Dr. Martens - Schuh
Coat - Topshop
Scarf - Topshop
Skirt - Primark
Gloves - New Look
Bag - Next

My ultimate winter favourite so far has to be my beautiful pastel pink Dr. Martens... I have searched for a pair of these boots to be in my size for SO long! I searched and searched and searched and was just having no luck; my size was continually 'out of stock'. Anyhow, me being me on Christmas day, browsed through the many sales online, and to my surprise, found one pair, in my size in the SALE on the Schuh website! I couldn't quite believe my luck and ordered them immediately. I LOVE THEM! Don't get me wrong, they did take some breaking in... but the pain is well worth it. They are so comfy now! I'd usually be a shoe size 6, but my friend, Ella, advised me to go a size smaller and I have no regrets and still manage to wear the beauties with a pair of thick snuggly socks. I never actually used to like Dr. Martens, however when I saw them in pastel colours with ribbons I was completely sold. Despite the fact I feel like I'm giving my legs a bit of a work out when I'm wearing them (haha) I think they act as a cute statement to any outfit.

I've enjoyed pairing my pink docs with my gorgeous Topshop coat I received for Christmas. I asked for this coat in a size up as I wanted it to be extra roomy and oversized. I feel it's the perfect length now; keeping me nice and toasty in this cold winter season! Whenever I wear it, I feel a bit like a giant lilac sheep as the coat seems to mimic that lovely woolly texture.

I absolutely love the colour combo of baby pink and lilac, and look forward to mix and matching my docs with many other outfits...

Hope you liked this post and are all wrapping up warm this winter!

Speak soon,

Alex

Aus Adventure: Welcome to Travel

Hello Everyone, I hope you’re all safe and well during these very strange times. I am currently living at Spot X Surf Camp on the East Coast of Australia during the COVID 19 pandemic. It’s a weird feeling being at the other side of the world during all of this madness, but I figured I would use this time to reflect on my Australian journey. I’m sure there are so many people so eager to travel when all of this is over, so I thought I’d return to my blog and write up a cheeky post reflecting on my first couple of weeks in Melbourne pre-lockdown. I always knew I wanted to work and travel in Australia, but I just had no idea where to even start with organising it, especially seeing as I knew I was travelling on my own (scary times). I remember googling ‘tours around Australia’ and it just felt like there were so many different things that popped up that all seemed to say the same thing, leading me to feel more lost with it all. I’ve done lots of travelling before, but I alwa...

Why Instagram is the worst app to be addicted to...

Hey Everyone! So today in the midst of essays, exams and revision, I figured I would write a post about the app that makes our thumbs sore from scrolling, the biggest form of procrastination yet, and the friend we all love but also hate. Yep, you've got it, I am going to put my hands in the air (or on the keyboard) and have a rant about Instagram. Firstly, I have an Instagram addiction. I have always been a lover of the ol' gram. I love capturing moments and making them look as pretty as possible, even if that does mean photos looking staged or unrealistic. I've always loved sharing memories with the world, liking my friends' photos, and even exploring the accounts of other creative people, and following them like I've known them my whole life. It honestly felt like I'd gained an award when Dr. Martens requested for one of my pictures to be posted on their official account. I was buzzing like a bee. However, recently I've found myself not enjoying Inst...

The things that change when you go to Newcastle University

Hello Everyone, As a Uni student who overthinks a LOT, there have definitely been moments where I've reflected on my time AT University, but also the time BEFORE. After a mental two years, I thought I'd write a little post for you, all about the things that I feel change when you go to Uni. The first is... fashion When you go to University, your fashion gets lazier, and you find yourself walking sluggishly to your lectures in the comfiest leggings you can find, the biggest and most baggy jumper you can get hold of, your gazelles, and no makeup. I am fully guilty of this. For some reason though, on a night out in Newcastle, it seems acceptable to go out in pretty much exactly the same thing, but with more makeup, your Calvin Klein's underneath and the addition of a cap (even though it's night time). Again, I am guilty of this, as shown below. At the end of second year, I noticed that pretty much every other person walking round Jesmond was wearing either a bom...
